MISA SHIMOMURA - Improwizacje fortepianowe

Misa Shimomura ur. w 1977 roku w Mie w Japonii. Pianistka, kompozytorka, zajmuje się muzyką improwizowaną. W latach 1999 - 2006 wspólnie ze skrzypkiem Saikou Miyajima współtworzyła zespół THIS=MISAxSAIKOU wykonujący muzykę improwizowaną. Zespół jest tematem filmu Ayako Mogi Ask the Wind nagrodzonego na festiwalu w Nyon w Szwajcarii. W 2006 roku grała na fortepianie w filmie Thomasa Readelsheimera Touch the Sound. Od tamtego czasu skupiona bardziej na improwizacjach solowych oraz własnych kompozycjach; Triangle Book 2006, 7 Colors 2008, 2010, w 2008 w Galerii Oko/Ucho wykonała utwór Błękitną fugę wspólnie z Mikołajem Polińskim, w 2009 roku grała na fortepianie w filmie This moment is not the same, Marion Neumann wraz z muzykami Fredem Frithem, Youngiem Gods i Baltsem Nillsem, laureatka nagrody Arts challenge 2010 w Aichi, (Nagoja). Związana z programem rezydencji artystycznej jour par jour cie w Laboratoire Village Nomade w Szwajcarii od 2009 roku projekt jest realizowany w Japonii na wyspie Awaji pod nazwą Nomadomura. Obecnie mieszka i pracuje w Berlinie.

Born 1977, Mie, Japanese pianist, composer and improviser. Her interests centre on free improvisation and the contemporary art scene. From 1999 to 2006 she was a pianist in the Kyoto neo-classical duo THIS=MISA×SAIKOU, together with the violinist and improviser Saikou Miyajima in the Mie Prefecture of Japan. During this period she began improvising by herself and presenting her own solo piano concerts. Since then she has been in contact with many other artists, including the film makers Werner Penzel (Cinenomad) and Ayako Mogi; the contemporary dancer Maki Morishita; the painter Mikolaj Polinski; the musician Balts Nill and also with Kyogen performers (Japanese traditional theatre), with DJs, with sound artists and with poets. As a pianist she performs works by Johann Sebastian Bach and John Cage. Her interests also include the physiology of sound perception, the relationship between physical space and acoustics, and experiments with new musical instruments.
