Pod koniec sierpnia 2025 r. zapraszamy na jedyny w Polsce koncert z udziałem międzynarodowego tria Weird Of Mouth, tworzonego przez trzy wyjątkowe postaci współczesnej sceny improwizowanej jakimi są saksofonistka Mette Rasmussen, pianista Craig Taborn i perkusista Ches Smith. Zespół powstał wokół ich wspólnego albumu Weird Of Mouth, który spotkał się z entuzjastycznym przyjęciem przez krytyków i słuchaczy. To muzyka pełna napięcia, odwagi i przestrzeni – improwizacja w czystej postaci.

Cała trójka muzyków jest dobrze znana warszawskiej publiczności, a dwoje z nich wielokrotnie grało wcześniej w Pardon, To Tu, w takich składach jak Fire! Orchestra, Snakeoil, Marc Ribot’s Ceramic Dog - a są to Mette Rasmussen i Ches Smith. Niemniej bardzo się cieszymy, że po raz pierwszy wystąpi u nas pianista Craig Taborn. WEIRD OF MOUTH happens when saxophonist Mette Rasmussen, pianist Craig Taborn, and drummer Ches Smith get together to expeditiously compose and perform music—two processes which often occur in such rapid succession that it seems like the three are simply improvising.

A cooperative and trans-national trio, WEIRD OF MOUTH brings together the Danish-born, Norway-based alto saxophonist Mette Rasmussen with pianist Craig Taborn and drummer Ches Smith, both longtime New Yorkers.

Rasmussen works on exploring the sonics and fundamental sonorous of her instrument, in ongoing explorations in a variety of bands and projects, such as ØKSE, Trio North, The sleep of reason produces monsters. And she has performed with the likes of Joëlle Léadre, Zeena Parkins, Yoshimi P-We, Sofia Jernberg, Evicshen, Han Bennink, Alan Silva, Richard Dawson, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and Fire! Orchestra.

Hailed by The New York Times as “one of the best jazz pianists alive,” Craig Taborn has played and recorded with such luminaries as Roscoe Mitchell, Wadada Leo Smith, Lester Bowie, Dave Holland, Tim Berne, John Zorn, Evan Parker, Steve Coleman, David Torn, Chris Potter, William Parker, Vijay Iyer, Kris Davis, and many others.

Ches Smith has collaborated with a host of artists on many scenes since the early 2000s, including Marc Ribot, Tim Berne, John Zorn, Darius Jones, David Torn, John Tchicai, Nels Cline, Mary Halvorson, Trevor Dunn, Terry Riley, Kris Davis, Dave Holland, Secret Chiefs 3, Xiu Xiu, Good for Cows, Theory of Ruin, and Mr. Bungle, among others. He has nine records to his name and is a devout student of Haitian Vodou drums, performing in religious and folkloric contexts in New York and Haiti for the last decade.
