OPIS

Agent nieruchomości, Hutter, zostaje wysłany do Transylwanii przez swojego szefa, Knocka, aby spotkać się z tajemniczym hrabią Orlokiem. Hrabia chce kupić opuszczony dom w niemieckim miasteczku Wisborg, a Knock wskazuje na taką posiadłość w pobliżu domu Huttera. Arcydzieło kina niemego, uznawane za horror wszech czasów. Luźna adaptacja powieści Brama Stokera „Drakula”, która o mało co nie uległa zniszczeniu z powodu procesu, wytoczonego przez wdowę po pisarzu, Florence Stoker. Murnau użył nowoczesnych środków wyrazu artystycznego jak awangardowy montaż, a część zdjęć wykonano w plenerze. F. W. Murnau, wł. Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau (1888-1931), wybitny niemiecki reżyser filmowy, scenarzysta i producent, jeden z najważniejszych twórców kina niemego. Zasłynął jako mistrz ekspresjonizmu i wizjonerskiej narracji wizualnej. Największą sławę przyniósł mu film „Nosferatu — symfonia grozy” (1922), nieoficjalna adaptacja „Drakuli” Brama Stokera, uznawana dziś za klasykę horroru i jedno z arcydzieł kina niemieckiego. Po sukcesach w Europie wyjechał do Hollywood, gdzie stworzył nagrodzony Oscarem film „Wschód słońca” (1927), uznawany za jedno z największych osiągnięć w historii kina. Zginął tragicznie w wypadku samochodowym w wieku czterdziestu dwóch lat. Do dziś pozostaje ikoną kina niemego i prekursorem filmowego języka wizualnego.

DESCRIPTION

Hutter, a real estate agent, is sent by his boss Knock to Transylvania to meet the mysterious Count Orlok. The Count wants to buy an abandoned house in the German town of Wisborg and Knock shows him a house very close to Hutter's home. This silent film is considered to be the greatest horror film of all time. It is a loose adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel “Dracula”, which nearly met with destruction due to a lawsuit brought by the author's widow, Florence Stoker. Murnau used modern artistic techniques such as avant-garde editing, and part of the scenes were shot outdoors. The cinematography by Fritz Arno Wagner and the masterful use of chiaroscuro emphasise the horror.

F. W. Murnau (Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau; 1888–1931) was a prominent German film director, screenwriter and producer who was one of the most important creators of silent cinema. He became renowned for his mastery of expressionism and innovative visual storytelling. He achieved his greatest fame with the film “Nosferatu” (1922), an unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker's “Dracula”. This film is now considered a horror classic and one of the masterpieces of German cinema. Following this success, he moved to Hollywood, where he directed the Oscar-winning film “Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans” (1927), widely regarded as one of the greatest achievements in cinema history. He died tragically in a car accident at the age of forty-two. He remains an icon of silent cinema and a pioneer of cinematic visual language to this day.
